Ageless Figure

21 Jul

A figure in the shadows

standing still before me.

It disappears as I

reach in attempt to grasp it.

Unclenching my fist,

the figure reappears.

Unable to possess the figure,

I run my hands over it,

learning the curves and angles,

committing details to memory.

Beautifully crafted, but left cracked

from neglectful caretakers.

No one claims responsibility

so it shies away from possibilities.

Scarred for eternity,

the figure keeps out of light,

hiding and waiting

for loneliness.
