I love Renaissance Festivals and ever since CG and I went to the Maryland Renaissance Festival with a mutual friend years ago, we’ve been itching to go together again. This year, things worked out for us to finally be able to go together.
The entertainment never fails to disappoint even when you see the same people each year. They manage to keep things fresh instead of doing the same thing all the time. If you ever go to the Maryland Renaissance Festival make sure you see Shakespeare Skrum. They do a fabulous tag team Romeo & Juliet that has everyone laughing. It’s a great way for people who don’t really care for Shakespeare to get the essence of The Bard with a lot of comedy.
I cannot go to a Renaissance Festival without having mead and I was so thankful I was able to add yeast back into my diet before my trip. Turkey legs are also a requirement. You have to enjoy a turkey leg at least once in your life.
If that wasn’t enough. Chaz and I went to the Ohio Renaissance Festival the following weekend. It is not far from us and they have theme weekends each weekend it is open every year. The first time we went, we went for Highland weekend complete with Highland games. This year we went for Irish weekend.
Yes, there was more mead for me and a suggestion by a vendor to mix the local mead with Angry Orchard’s Cinnful Apple hard cider. I have both, but haven’t tried it yet.
Trust me. It is in my near future.
